We believe that an integrated holistic approach to care, attending to mind, body, and spirit in healing and wellness, is vital to the health of individuals, families, communities, and society. We can help!
Healing. Connecting. Becoming.
The concept of integrated care is not new. For centuries, those ministering to patients included the care of the mind, body and spirit. However, due to rapid advances over the last century, healthcare has become increasingly fragmented. While specialization clearly has its place; there are fewer providers looking at the whole instead of just the part(s). Meaning, there are relatively few (from physicians, spiritual leaders, to mental health professionals) that take a holistic, integrated patient-centered approach to care - each attending to their area of focus or specialization. For a more in-depth discussion of this topic, please see the wellness blog on "mind-body split" by Dr. Olson.
The good news is that there are dedicated professionals who have been working hard to correct this problem. Progress has been made to reconnect the fragmented parts of a broken system. Fundamentally, this starts with providers who think systemically, utilizing a bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach to care - with a multidisciplinary team that works closely together to provide comprehensive, integrated care. We, at Grand Junction Wellness Center, are that team of professionals!
